Pressure Chamber to Stone Press ratios
Four published ratios, side by side. The balanced one is 2 chambers to 5 presses: a chamber makes 25 kg/min of sand and a press uses 10.
- 1 : 11 chamber feeding 1 press.
- 1 : 21 chamber feeding 2 presses.
- 2 : 5The balanced build: every chamber and press runs at full speed.
- 4 : 84 chambers feeding 8 presses.
| Ratio | Stone kg/min | Raw dust kg/min | Power | Cost |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| 1 : 1 | 20 | 35 | 28 kW | not published |
| 1 : 2 | 40 | 45 / 45 | 46 kW | $2,500 |
| 2 : 5 | 100 | 100 | 110 kW | $6,000 |
| 4 : 8 | 160 | not published | 184 kW | $10,000 |
How to read this
Each press uses 10 kg/min of sand and 10 kg/min of dust and returns 20 kg/min of stone. A chamber turns 25 kg/min of dust into sand. The ratio that uses all of a chamber is therefore 2.5 presses per chamber, which is 2 : 5. Smaller ratios leave sand unused, larger ones starve the presses.
Two sources disagree on the raw dust of the 1:2 build. They describe different operating points, and both are shown. The full reasoning is in the ratio guide.
